Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Rainfall in South China from 1967 to 2018

Abstract Based on daily meteorological observation data in South China (SC) from 1967 to 2018, the spatiotemporal characteristics of precipitation SC over past 52 years were studied. Only 8% stations showed a significant increase annual rainfall, and there was no negative trend at any weather confidence level 90%. Monthly rainfall most decreasing increasing trends April November, respectively. During entire flooding season September, monthly coastal areas almost change. The gradually decreased toward inland area with central Guangdong Province as high-value center. By using empirical orthogonal function decomposition method, it found that two main modes had strong signals. first modal spatial distribution basically consistent average distribution. environmental background analysis, during season, water vapor transported by East Asian summer monsoon Indian monsoon. In late autumn winter, prevailing wind northeastern could not bring much led little these seasons. more moisture flux divergence bottom layer 925 hPa 1000 hPa, rather than 700 hPa.
